چکیده

Abstract The intertidal invertebrate community on rocky shores in northern Chile is characterised by a high species richness resulting from the productivity of this ecosystem. present study aims to do first characterisation communities Antofagasta town and surroundings (23°S), using co-occurrence niche-sharing null models, analysis similarities (ANOSIM) nonmetric multidimensional scaling (NMDS). model results revealed that associations are not structured, existing have same ecology, which would result many repeated site, specificity their ecological niches exists. ANOSIM NMDS absence significant differences between sites with human intervention without intervention. obtained agree literature for central Chilean southern Peruvian shores, other coastal marine ecosystems productivity.

Correction: Rocky Intertidal Zonation Pattern in Antofagasta, Chile: Invasive Species and Shellfish Gathering

BACKGROUND Biological invasions affecting rocky intertidal zonation patterns, yield information on species interactions. In the Bay of Antofagasta, northern Chile, the non-indigenous tunicate Pyura praeputialis, originally from Australia, has invaded (in the past century or so) and monopolized a major portion of the mid-intertidal rocky shore, displacing upshore the native mussel Perumytilus pu...

Diversity and distribution of True Crabs (Brachyura) from intertidal rocky shores of Qeshm Island, Persian Gulf

Rocky shores are one of the most important habitats of marine environment in coastal areas. This study was done in 2010-2011 to investigate the diversity of true crabs in intertidal rocky shores of Qeshm island. Samples were collected from intertidal zones during the low-tide at 5 stations. The specimens were fixed in 70% Etanol and transferred to laboratory for identification. Altogether, 15 c...

First observations of the aquatic invertebrate fauna in ephemeral Atacama River (22° S, Antofagasta Region, Chile)

The invertebrate communities of the northern Chilean rivers are characterised by their marked endemism andspecificity of their community structure in different basins. The river systems located in the Atacama Desert are endorheicand are affected by the rainy period of January-February commonly known as the “Bolivian winter“. The present study isthe first report on the observations of arthropods...
